Public School Told to Remove Picture of Jesus!

The battle to drive Christianity and the open exercise of Christianity underground continues by the ACLU and it accomplices in the Courts and the mainstream press. In particular, Bridgeport High School in West Virginia was told to remove a portriat of Jesus that had hung on the wall outside the principal's office for 37 years, because having the portrait there illegally endorses Christianity. I have also learned that some coward stole just the portrait, leaving the frame behind, shortly after the school and the school board decided to fight the demand to remove the portrait.

Here is the e-mail I sent to the faculty, staff and students of Bridgeport High School expressing my support for their willingness to stand up to the godless ACLU and its willing accomplices:

Mr. Mark DeFazio, Mrs. Mary Frances Smith, Faculty, Staff and Students:

I just learned of the controversy concerning the Jesus Portrait that had been hanging in your school for 37 years, and the attack by the ACLU and others to force its removal. I also just learned of the theft of the portrait. I must commend you and the community for taking the principled stand that you have taken. I am sorry to hear that some coward has stolen the portrait. I hope that the thief is found and severely punished for his criminal act.

It is about time that the God-fearing people of this country stand up to the godless hoards who are doing everything they can to destroy those things that have made this country great. While there is a fax survey going around about your case, I decided that I wanted to contact you and tell you directly that I support your decision to fight to keep the portrait. Keep the portrait up. Fight the ACLU. It is so unfortunate that at this time, it is considered courageous to stand up to the ACLU. When I was growing up, it would have been considered Anti-American to suggest that your portrait was a bad thing and needed to be removed. This is an unfortunate change in our cultural attitude, and needs to change. As a lawyer who has only recently come to the realization that my law school education was tilted to the left and completely ignored discussions and teaching about the real meaning of our founding documents and our form of government, I appreciate and fully support your willingness to stand up and fight for the one part of the First Amendment that the ACLU and its willing accomplices in the courts and the mainstream press have unconstitutionally written out of the Bill of Rights: “Congress shall make no law . . . prohibiting the free exercise [of religion].”

Your willingness to stand up and fight is inspirational. I hope it will motivate others to stand up and fight against these homegrown terrorist groups who use our system and laws to destroy the fabric of our society.

Mark,
After being contacted regarding a class reunion for BHS, I began doing some research looking for the BHS website and came upon your blog. I must say, I am somewhat disturbed to read this blog in particular, that you have sent out to your faculty and students... I also grew up in Bridgeport and am a Christian. I have been fortunate enough to become aware that people from many different religions and ethnic groups make up the
"patriotic" citizens of our America. As the principle
of a "public" school, you are responsible for welcoming the "public" to your classrooms. That "public" may include students from many different religious backgrounds. Although I respect your right to have an opinion, I do not feel that it is appropriate to use your role as High School Principle, to broadcast your personal views regarding religion... Bottom line, if I was not a Christian, I would not feel welcome in your school. There should be a distinction between your role as BHS principle and private citizen... As americans we should all be comfortable accepting the fact that the "America" we live in is a melting pot. We will never have the peace we desire as a nation and world if we can not accept our differences. All we have to do is look in our high school history books to see how our unaccepting views have hurt us in the past..... Mark, if you truly are wanting to encourage our youth to be patriotic american citizens, then you should teach them that we are lucky to live in a society where we can embrace our differences. If I remember correctly, religious freedom was among the many wishes of the founders of our "united states".

Sincerely a BHS alumni, and proud member of an interfaith family

You seem to have missed the whole point of the posting. The point is not that people are not being allowed to exercise and practice their religion. The point is that only Christians are banned from discussing and practicing their religion in the "public" schools. Christians are Americans, too. Christians do not forfeit their rights and liberties at the school door.

I am not sure how you reached the conclusion that I was a principal of BHS or was sending the blog out to faculty and students. First, I am a lawyer, not a teacher or principal. Second, I have never lived in Bridgeport. Third, our country was a melting pot because we welcomed all who wanted to come to embrace freedom and become Americans. The "embracing of differences" you express is nothing more than multiculturalism--the idea that no one culture or people is better than another. I reject multiculturalism as anti-American and destructive. I truly believe that America and the American culture is better than any other in this world. The proof of that is plain to see, if you will only open your eyes. Our American culture is the best because of our freedoms, our ideas and ideals. I believe that this country and its citizens are great because of our freedoms and ideals. It is because of our freedoms, ideas and ideals that people are dying to get here. Why would you flee from the squallor, tyranny and oppression of your native land and then try to re-establish what you had there in your new country? That is the principle that multiculturalism promotes. I reject it.

Learn it, Love it, Live it (what it means to be an American), or leave and go back where you came from. Our culture is distinct and superior. Our language is English. Unfortunately, our children are not being told, shown or taught how truly magnificent and miraculous our nation and its history is in the "public" schools. Instead, they are being brainwashed into believing that America is the source of all the world's problems and that our history is shameful.

I am a second-generation American. All of my grandparents arrived through Ellis Island from Germany and Czechoslovakia in 1910-1911. They arrived and became Americans. Their children were Americans. They were not German-American or Czechoslovakian-American, and neither am I. So, I vehemently reject multi-culturalism.

This country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. To believe or teach otherwise is to be ignorant or untruthful. To teach our children otherwise and to try to remove all vestiges of those principles is un-American, in my view. The First Amendment to the Constitution, which by the way, was supposed to LIMIT GOVERNMENT action against the individual citizens, prohibits limiting the free exercise of religion, even in the "public" schools.
It is interesting that in the "public" schools only references to Christianity are removed or banned. At the same time, Islam is promoted and even taught. How is that "accepting our differences"?
Unfortunately, what you profess to seek and seem to be promoting leads to anarchy and not unity. You seek to let the minority dictate to the majority because the minority is somehow offended by the actions of the majority. Well, our system requires the majority to win, while giving the minority the right to speak out. To have it any other way, will only lead to mob rule and anarchy.

I am sorry that you would not feel welcome in "my public school." "My public school" would welcome all who seek to live and learn what it means to be an American. "My public school" would promote self-determination, self-reliance, and seeking and making the best of any opportunities that are available to the students to achieve their individual dreams. "My public school" would have discipline. "My public school" would have high expectations for each student. "My public school" would promote, encourage and reward achievement, not mere existence. "My public school" would be tough academically. "My public school" would fail those who do not perform to the best of their ability. "My public school" would have high standards of behavior and academics for all students and all of the teachers and staff. "My public school" would require all teachers to use red pens to grade the tests and papers. "My public school" would require all students to speak and write English as their primary language. "My public school" would teach true American History. "My public school" would teach all of its students to become thinking, law-abiding, and engaged citizens. "My public school" would promote duty to God, duty to country, duty to family, and duty to self. "My public school" would engage in teaching morals. So, I guess you would not feel welcome in such a place.
